One of six 2012 LCEF Scholarship award winners, Samantha Carlson, member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minn., received her $1,000 award on Sun., Jan. 13, 2013. LCEF Minnesota South District VP Kurt Fuhr was the presenter.
“Samantha was well deserving of this award. It’s a joy to see our youth, such as Samantha, grow in their faith and walk with the Lord. We need to lift up these youth who are actively listening for what Jesus has in mind for their life. We wish her well as she pursues her degree at Concordia University – St. Paul to become a Director of Christian Education,” said Fuhr.
In her scholarship application, Carlson wrote, “I hope to invest my life in spreading Christ’s love simply because He first loved me. I appreciate what LCEF does as an organization. It’s crucial that we spread the word of Christ and often, money plays a big factor in doing that. Churches, servant events, mission trips, college, etc; they can’t pay for themselves. That’s why I thank God for organizations such as LCEF that are dedicated to helping others reduce financial stress. This blessing of financial help makes it easy on others to be able to do what they were called to do: share the news of Jesus to all.” Read more here.
