Marta Neumann, member of Zion Lutheran Church in Colby, Wisc., received her $1,000 LCEF Scholarship funds following the service at her home congregation on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Presenting the award was Lutheran Church Extension Fund North Wisconsin District Vice President Dennis Johnson. "It was a joy to present this much deserved scholarship to Marta who was home for Christmas from Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Wash. Marta is planning to continue her music education following graduation this spring from PLU and is currently visiting schools on the east coast," said Johnson. "We wish Marta God's blessings as she pursues her dreams."
LCEF is committed to connecting with and supporting our younger LCMS members and in that effort we provide an annual $1,000 scholarship to seven districts in the upper Midwest. It is our prayer that our outstanding LCMS students will pursue further education and, in time, become adult leaders in their own churches. We look to Isaiah 40:31 to remind ourselves of what great potential we have in our LCMS members ... both young and old, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Applications for the 2014 LCEF Scholarships can be submitted until February 28, 2014. Click here to apply.
