Central L.S. in Newhall, Iowa Wins Y.I. Challenge

“The Young Investors (Y.I.) Club Challenge gave our teachers and parents opportunities to talk with our students about Christian stewardship and how they can become involved in a rewarding investment opportunity,” said Central Lutheran School teacher Ms. Denise Block. “The Young Investors Club and other LCEF programs allow money to be saved and earned while helping spread the Gospel. The $1,000 incentive demonstrates the support that the LCEF gives to other ministries in order to further God's kingdom. This was a great way to remind our students about all that God provides and educate our students about LCEF and the benefits of godly stewardship with their time, talents, and treasures.”

Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) serving the upper Midwest districts - LCMS announced the 2014 Young Investor (Y.I.) Challenge earlier this year. The online quiz was a chance for LCMS schools and churches to win $1,000 for ministry. From Jan. 26 to Feb. 16, 2014, a ten-question-quiz covering personal finance and stewardship was available online. Congregation members and school families of all ages took the quiz. The higher the percentage of participation and correct answers, the better an LCMS church/school’s chances of winning. Central Lutheran School in Newhall was the winner in Iowa with more than 500 people participating. Their $1,000 check from LCEF will be presented during chapel on May 7.
