Congratulations Brianna Holtmeier! Brianna is the first of four 2015 Minnesota South (MNS) District Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) $1,000 Scholarship award winners. Brianna is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, North Mankato, Minnesota and a senior at Minnesota Valley Lutheran (MVL) High School in New Ulm, Minnesota. Upon high school graduation, Brianna plans to attend Concordia University – St. Paul. Brianna is the daughter of Joe and Beth Holtmeier.
In his letter of recommendation for Brianna, Rev. Vance Becker wrote:
“Brianna is an outstanding student who, both because of her ability and by applying her effort, excels in every area, one of which is Bible study. She is eager and able to be involved in many things at once, including social, athletic, musical and church activities. Her positive nature, self-confidence and friendly personality have led to her being a leader in most groups in which she is involved.
Brianna has demonstrated leadership as part of our congregation's District Bible Quiz Bowl team from the first year of our participation. She shares her talents in worship as part of an instrumental group for festival worship. She has served others through our youth ministry program. Already in her elementary years, Brianna's sharp memory and poise were evident as she played key roles in school and church dramatic programs.
I recommend Brianna with the confidence that she will continue her drive to excel in personal accomplishment and leadership as a servant of God.”
LCEF is blessed to have the funds available to support our youth as they pursue post-secondary education. It is our prayer that they are equipped to become strong, Christian leaders as adults. In Brianna’s scholarship application essay, she described how the ministry of LCEF has partnered with her home congregation and others through investments, loans and ministry support.
“LCEF personally touched my life when it provided the loan necessary to build my home church. Around the world, other people’s lives are being changed as LCEF enables congregations and church workers to gather Jesus’ flock to Him.
There are opportunities for everyone to be involved in LCEF…. As the Lutheran Church Extension Fund continues to provide services to the Church, earthly lives are being altered, and heavenly lives are being transformed as the seeds of faith are planted in people’s hearts.”
In a letter of recommendation, MVL Math teacher, Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Nicole Lehman wrote this about Brianna:
“Brianna is involved in many activities at MVL. In athletics, she participates in cross country, dance team, and track. In non-sports related activities, she participates in choir, show choir, and National Honor Society. As her coach for cross country and track, I saw how dedicated she is to the sport and her team. She worked hard to improve her personal best and encouraged her teammates to do their best, both in practice and at meets. When races didn’t go as expected she didn’t let it get her down, and worked harder in practice to improve for the next meet. The younger runners on the [team] saw this drive in her and it pushed them to work harder as well. Watching her on the dance team and sing in choir, I also see the dedication she has and the hard work she puts in to everything she is involved with.”
