"Thank you [LCEF] for your generosity and support of Lutheran education!" said First Immanuel Lutheran School Principal Dawn Walker. First Immanuel is located in Cedarburg, Wisconsin and was the 2015 champion of the Y.I. Challenge in the South Wisconsin District (SWD). According to Walker, the school will use the $1,000 funds awarded by the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) on April 2, 2015 to help cover ongoing technology costs.
Other 2015 LCEF Y.I. Challenge $1,000 winners in the upper Midwest districts of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) included the following:
>Central Lutheran School, Newhall, Iowa
>Trinity Lutheran School, Athens, Wisc.
>Zion Lutheran School of Wayside, Greenleaf, Wisc.
The Y.I. Challenge was a ten-question quiz offered online from Jan. 26 - Feb. 14, 2015 in celebration of National Lutheran Schools Week. The quiz contained basic questions on good stewardship, financial management and LCEF's Young Investors (Y.I.) Club.
LCEF's Y.I. Club members earn 3.5% (May 2015) on funds invested up to $1,000; young people ages 7-18 can also earn up to $50/year for community service and good grades. Members of the Y.I.
