“Thank you again Pastor Riggert for including our little ones!” said Little Lambs Preschool Teacher/Director Heidi Rains. Little Lambs is a ministry at Mount Olive Lutheran Church and School in Des Moines, Iowa where Rev. Robert “Bob” Riggert shared an Ash Wednesday message with the three-year old class on Feb. 10, 2016. Riggert shared Psalm 51:2 with the children in an object lesson.
“Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.” – Psalm 51:2
Today, Riggert serves as Iowa Districts Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) Director of Customer Service. Over the years, he has also served as a pastor, principal and teacher in Iowa, Indiana and Ohio and has held many leadership and team ministry positions. Riggert was named the 2013 recipient of the Lutheran Education Association’s top honor, the Christus Magister Award.
Mount Olive Lutheran Church and School has been a partner in ministry with LCEF for many years. In 2011, an LCEF loan helped fund a new wing. Mount Olive added new classrooms, offices and an elevator.
Today, the congregation is eligible for an LCEF loan rebate which means thousands of dollars are returned to the congregation annually to use as they see fit. The amount of an LCEF Shared Blessings Loan Rebate is dependent on how many LCEF investors are supporting an eligible congregation.
“It was a joy to see Mount Olive members respond to the rebate opportunity last fall when they added 21 new LCEF investors in one weekend,” said Iowa Districts LCEF Vice President Carole White. “Mount Olive member and LCEF congregation advocate, Jeff Rains, was instrumental in the congregation’s rebate success. Jeff did a great job communicating with fellow members and the school families.” The congregation recently qualified for the second level of their rebate so they continue to gain momentum.
