Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Little Lamb Preschool and Daycare is blessed by a combined enrollment from member families as well as those in the greater community of Tilden, Nebraska. For some of these families, Little Lambs is their only church connection.
When LCEF advocate and Immanuel member Dave Renner submitted his LCEF outreach grant application to help fund Christian books for their preschool and Sunday school children, he wrote, “We as a congregation want to place God’s Word in homes [so] that it may be an entry way for the Holy Spirit to open their hearts. [And also, to serve] as a loving congregational aid in our response to these families and our own.”
The congregation gives the books to the preschool for distribution to families under the direction of Director Brenda Grubb. “These storybooks in the home will complement the ministry of our daycare/preschool and Sunday School programs, and open doors for bringing the unchurched to faith,” wrote Renner. “This project will encompass the mission statement of Immanuel Lutheran, ‘To know Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior and to Make Him known to Others.’ As a congregation that celebrated 125 years of faithful service, we have the unique position of having a median member age of 36 years.” What an opportunity for outreach.
Immanuel Lutheran hosted their Mission Sunday on September 9, 2018. The mission board presented the Bible storybooks to daycare families. “I have had a great response from the families. They all love the books. Thank you [LCEF] again,” said Brenda Grubb, Little Lambs Daycare Director. Approximately 50 families in the community will receive the books.
The Lutheran Church Extension Fund is a nonprofit ministry of the Church; therefore, fiscal year end operating results are put right back into mission and ministry. LCEF is blessed by strong investors and faithful borrowers. Grant funds are available for LCMS organizations in the following districts of the Central Region: Iowa District East, Iowa District West, Minnesota North, Minnesota South, Nebraska and South Wisconsin. Each grant is $1,000.
