On Tues., Sept. 3, 2013, LCEF Minnesota South District Vice President Kurt Fuhr met with members of Holy Cross, Minneapolis. The congregation hosted a follow up demographics meeting  to  better understand the various people groups in their neighborhood. This  group exercise helps the congregation identify & process local needs with a focus on building  relationships and making connections.

Raising members and leaders' awareness  helps successfully serve ministry needs that might otherwise be overlooked.  Contact your district VP to learn more about LCEF demographic resources.

"The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations," Rev. 22:2 was the cornerstone of a luncheon hosted at Mount Hope Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Minn. on Thurs., Aug. 22, 2013.  Colleagues and co-workers gathered together at a farewell luncheon and sending devotion for Minnesota South District Executive Mike Zimmer.

The Minnesota South District was blessed by Zimmer's leadership and vision as he served in various positions for 18 years.  Zimmer first served at Redeemer Lutheran in Wayzata, then at Mayer Lutheran High School and finally, in 2008, Zimmer joined the MNS District staff in Mission Formation.

Prior to the MNS District, Zimmer taught high school social studies in Illinois and served as a youth director and parish administrator in Omaha, Neb.

Zimmer has accepted a call to join the Northern Illinois District staff as an education executive. He will be moving closer to many family members and friends since Zimmer grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from Concordia - River Forest. Mike's wife, Jeni, started her new teaching job in Chicago this month.
